

MUSCAT: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Ibri signed its first research consultancy with Nama Water Services, in a step that reinforces the University's approaches towards harnessing research and innovation to address practical challenges and to broaden avenues of cooperation and partnership with sector institutions.
The research consultancy aims to develop solutions for detecting water leaks and identifying their locations in real time using artificial intelligence technologies, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of water network management and leveraging modern technologies to develop scientific and applied solutions that serve this vital sector.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the University by Dr Nasser Mohammed Al Kathiri, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of the University in Ibri, and on behalf of Nama Water Services by Eng. Ibrahim Mohammed Al Harthy, Chief Executive Officer for Planning and Asset Management, at the Company's headquarters in Muscat.
The agreement also embodies the University of Technology and Applied Sciences' approach towards strengthening partnership with various sectors and linking the outputs of research to the actual needs of institutions and society, thereby reinforcing the University's role in supporting development based on knowledge and innovation. - ONA
